Bruce D. Glasscock is Executive Director (Assistant City Manager) of the Public Safety Services and Technology Business Center, one of the City of Plano’s four business centers. His oversight of the Public Safety Services and Technology Business Center includes direct supervision of seven key departments: Police Services, Fire Services, Public Safety Communications, Technology Services, Public Information, Emergency Management/Homeland Security and Health Services. In addition to managing the aforementioned departments, Mr. Glasscock oversees City Council’s Community Outreach and International Relations efforts. He also shares oversight of the City’s legislative program with Executive Director Frank Turner.

Bruce Glasscock began his career with the City of Plano in August 1990 when selected as Police Chief of the Plano Police Department. Mr. Glasscock was promoted to Executive Director of the City of Plano in May 1998. He held dual leadership roles (Police Chief and Executive Director) through November 2001, when he resigned from the Police Chief position to devote himself full time to Executive Director responsibilities.

In 1994, during his tenure as Plano’s Police Chief, Mr. Glasscock was elected to the Board of Officers of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the world’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization of police executives. In November 2000, he was inaugurated as the 88th President of IACP. He currently serves as a Past President of this prestigious association.

Prior to his appointment as Police Chief in Plano, Mr. Glasscock served as the Chief of Police for the City of Ft. Collins, Colorado from 1984 – 1990. Mr. Glasscock also served in the Lakewood, Colorado Police Department and the St. Petersburg, Florida Police Department.

Bruce Glasscock holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management from Metropolitan State College at Denver, Colorado and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Mr. Glasscock remains active in the community through membership on local, state and national boards.
