Signs

Garage sale signs may be placed on your private property or your neighbor’s private property with their permission. Signage in violation of the sign ordinance may be subject to a fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00). Fines are at the discretion of the prosecutor or judge.

As a guideline :

Your private property is not the strip of grass between the curb and sidewalk. This is city right of way.

As a guideline :

In the front yard of a home, right-of-ways normally extend 10 feet from the back of street curb
In the back yard, right-of-ways normally extend 3 feet behind pavement on alleys.


PROHIBITED :
No signs allowed on medians of public streets.
No signs allowed on corners of public streets.

No signs allowed in subdivision entrances.
No signs allowed on the grass next to the curb of a public street.
No signs allowed next to or adjacent to a screening wall of a public street.

As a rule :
No signs allowed in the right of way of a public street.
