Thank you for your interest in employment with the City of Plano. Before completing your application, read the instructions and general information below.

Note:  External applicants must set up an e-mail account through a local Internet Service Provider (i.e., Yahoo, Google, AOL, etc.) to receive confirmation and updates regarding your application. 

  1. Job listing opportunities are updated daily.
  2. Applications are accepted only online.
  3. All positions are subject to close without notice.
  4. Each position listed in our job openings includes minimum qualifications. Applicants not meeting the minimum qualifications listed for a positions will not be considered for employment.
  5. Applications are accepted only for currently posted positions.
  6. You must submit a completed application for each position for which you are applying. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  7. An electronic copy of your resume may be submitted along with your application, but not in lieu of one. All questions on the application must still be answered completely.

    When attaching the resume, please post it in the Resume Text section. 
    Electronic copies of other job related documents such as certificates, diplomas, or letters of recommendation may also be attached.

    To enter your work experience, type or copy and paste it into the “Comments” box under “Enter Employment Details.” Do not use the comment “See Resume” in the “comments” section. 

  8. Clerical positions may require skills testing.
  9. Drug testing is required for all positions.
  10. Physicals required for specific positions.
  11. An automatic email is submitted to external candidates after you application has been successfully submitted.  If you do not receive this email, but want to verify that your application has been received you will need to sign-in to your account select My Career Tools; Change the display to All Applications.  Any application that has been submitted will have a status of Applied.
  12. If you choose to forward a job opportunity to an interested candidate and they do not receive it, please refer the candidate to visit our website directly. 
  13. Applications are forwarded to the respective department(s) for review.  Human Resources does not know the status of your application.
  14. The hiring department will call candidates to schedule interviews and select the applicant to be hired. There are no time restrictions to complete this process. All applicants who are interviewed will be notified when a selection is made.
  15. Human Resources does not maintain usernames or passwords.  Click on Login Help on the Careers page of the job listing for assistance.

"Employee Only" positions as well as the open positions indicated below should be applied for by logging into your PeopleSoft account.  Go to Self-Service; Recruiting Activities; Careers.  You must complete the entire application to be considered for the position which you are applying for.

  • The Plano Police Department is now hiring for the position of Police Officer. To become a police officer, applicants must first successfully register and pass a Civil Service Entrance Examination.

    Our next Police Entrance Exam will occur on
    Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 8:00 a.m.

    2200 Independence Parkway
    Plano, TX

    Applicants must complete and submit the Pre-Registration Questionaire no later than noon on Wednesday March 11, 2010.
