For individuals who have hearing or sight impairments, the State of Texas has partnered with Deaf Link to provide hazard and emergency notifications to people with communication restrictions.  Through their Accessible Hazard Alert System with Individual Notification (AHAS-IN) program, Deaf Link is able to use signed video for persons who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing who use American Sign Language (ASL); voice and text for the blind; and text for Deaf/Blind who use Braille capable devices.

The AHAS-IN program uses zip code-based information to alert citizens with disabilities who have signed up for the service.  This service is free to the subscriber.
