he Plano Fire Department recruits, trains, and supervises citizen volunteers. Applications are currently being accepted for the Spring 2012 session of the Plano Fire Department’s Citizens Fire Academy which starts March 2012. The CFA is a ten-week long course to give citizens an in-depth look at how the Plano Fire Department is organized and operates. The course will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 pm Thursday nights. There is no cost to participate in the course but applicants must be at least 18 years of age and either live or work in the city of Plano. The Plano Emergency Management & Homeland Security Department recruits, trains and supervises citizen volunteers. The Spring 2011 Citizens Emergency Response Team basic training course has been completed. If you are interested in joining the waiting list for a potential Spring 2012 basic training course please click here. Completing a basic training course does not gaurantee membership to Plano CERT.
