Thank you for choosing the City of Plano for your volunteer service. Adult volunteers should follow the steps below to get started.

1. Review the departments that utilize volunteers by clicking on the tabs above. Read the descriptions carefully to make sure you qualify and meet the schedule requirements.
   
2. Follow the link (“Click here”) to the department online sign-up page. Here you will see a listing of volunteer activities for that department. To sign up follow the link (“I would like to volunteer for this organization”) to begin the application.
   
3. By creating a profile with username and password you are submitting an electronic application to VIP. There will be a “Send Comments” area of the application where you can write and send a note to VIP with questions or comments about your application. Apply under one department to begin the process, additional departments can be added later.
   
4. Once you have submitted your profile, please wait to receive a response from a VIP volunteer coordinator with information on scheduling a short in-person interview. Advance notice will be given if a background check is required in order to volunteer.
